iPhoto won't update

I got an error message before updating when I click on iPhoto, so I updated and now the error message says: "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS X Yosemite. Download the latest version for free from the Mac App Store." So I updated my computer to Yosemite. No change, iPhoto still wouldn't open. I then downloaded the upgrade to iPhoto 9.4.3 and when I went to launch that, I get this error message: Alert: iPhoto 9.1 or later is required to install this update. When I click on the app store button with the first error to go to the app store to download the latest version it says: "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store." so I have no clue what to do to get iPhoto to work but I have a ton of photos and no way to get them on my computer. I don't even know how to access them on the cloud 😕 help!

I can't even see which version of iPhoto and I cannot download the new iphoto- well I did download it but it says I can't update it. I don't know where to find where I can download the complete new iPhoto instead of just the update? ohhhh so if I can't get iPhoto to work, I can just use the photos app? That has no problems so I can just remove the iPhoto tab from my thingy at the bottom of the screen?
